How To Determine Your Skin Type

Choosing the correct skincare products and routine requires knowing your skin type. Six steps to determine your skin type

Bare-faced method

Use a mild cleanser to remove makeup, grime, and oil from your face. Pat Dry: Dry your face gently with a clean cloth. Wait and Watch: Be product-free. Wait about an hour.

The Blotting Sheet Test

Oil-absorbing blotting papers are offered in drugstores. Facial Press Sheets: Apply blotting sheets to your forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks gently. Hold sheets up to light to measure oil absorption.

Check your skin's appearance and feel

Normal Skin: Smooth, balanced, and low in oil and dryness.  Oily Skin: Shiny and greasy, especially on the T-zone. Large pores, acne-prone.  Dry skin is tight, flaky, and dull. May show lines or redness.

Consider Product Reactions on Skin

Hydration Level: Check if your skin quickly absorbs moisturisers or stays hydrated. Monitor your skin's reaction to skincare products. Certain products hurt or redden sensitive skin.

Monitor Your Skin All Day

Morning and Night: Check your skin before bed.  Midday Check: Check for shiny, dry, or irritated skin.
