There are crunchy tortillas, perfectly seasoned beef, and lots of fresh toppings in this easy to make tostada recipe.
– ½ cup vegetable oil (120mL)– 12 corn tortilla– 1 (16-ounce/454g) can refried bean– 1 onion diced– 1 pound ground beef (450g)– 1½ teaspoons chili powder– 1 teaspoon salt– 1 teaspoon ground cumin– 1 teaspoon paprika– ½ teaspoon garlic powder– ½ teaspoon oregano– ½ teaspoon black pepperToppings (optional)– Queso fresco– Chopped avocado– Iceberg lettuce– Sour cream– Salsa or pico de gallo– Cilantro

Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high. Cook two tortillas at a time, rotating periodically, until crisp and lightly browned, 2–3 minutes. Drain and cool on a paper towel-lined platter.
Step 1
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat the refried beans in a small pot over medium-low heat for 6 minutes, stirring periodically. Keep warm under cover.
Step 2
Heat leftover oil in the big skillet used to fry tortillas over medium heat. Stir occasionally as the onion softens, about 6 minutes.
Step 3
Add ground beef, chilli powder, salt, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper.
Step 4
Stir regularly and break the beef into small pieces with the back of the spoon until browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes. Stop cooking.
Step 5
Spread 2 teaspoons refried beans on each fried tortilla to assemble. Add ¼ cup of seasoned ground meat and any desired toppings to each.
