Korean BBQ Rib Recipe Learn like a Chef
It’s true that ribs can be prepared in the oven. You certainly can, and they’re excellent! If you’re in a hurry, you can cook them quickly at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or low and slow at 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Either way, I believe they taste great.
But the best part about these ribs is that you can grill them. It actually depends on you how you do things, as I have done them both ways. This recipe comes from the mother of a friend of mine; you should definitely check out her site, Salu-Salo, for a tonne of amazing real food dishes!
Ingredients
- 2½ pounds pork ribs (or beef short ribs)
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium)
- ½ cup onion powder
- ¼ cup green onions (chopped)
- ½ tablespoon garlic (chopped)
- ¼ tablespoon black pepper (ground)
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients, excluding the ribs, in a sizable bowl.
When the ribs are added, toss them around to coat them all with marinade.
Place a plastic wrap over the bowl or move it into a plastic bag, then chill it for the entire night.
Preheat the oven to 400°F the next day. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30 minutes or until ribs are done. As an alternative, you may grill them and BBQ them.

FAQs
Can you make Korean BBQ Ribs on the Grill?
Yes, without a doubt! These ribs are going to taste great off the grill. Even if there could be some marinade left on the grill bars, the meat will still retain all of the flavour. For a total of one hour, grill the ribs covered over indirect medium heat for thirty minutes on each side. After moving the ribs to the direct heat source, grill them for a further 20 to 40 minutes, or until they become tender.
Tips for Making the Best Ribs
Remove the silverskin or membrane from the underside of the pork ribs before using them. Gently slide a tiny knife between the meat and membrane. After taking out the knife, start separating the membrane with your hands. To improve your grip, you can wrap a paper towel around your hand. The membrane can be readily peeled from the ribs with a gentle tug.
These ribs should be marinated overnight. It is impossible to top the flavour and tenderness you get by allowing them to absorb all those seasonings!
Give your meat at least fifteen minutes to rest before serving. To keep everything warm while they rest, you can cover them with foil.
